The problem
A two-person founding team had raised a pre-seed round and needed to ship a working product before their runway ran out. They had a clear vision of what they were building but no in-house engineering capacity. Their previous agency had delivered a prototype that couldn't handle real traffic and had no CI/CD pipeline.
They came to us with three requirements: ship fast, ship correctly, and make sure the codebase we hand off is one their future engineering team can actually work with.
Our approach
We started with a three-day discovery sprint to define scope, agree on the tech stack, and write the SOW. We proposed a Next.js front end with AWS CDK infrastructure — Cognito for auth, DynamoDB for the primary data store, and Stripe for payments. No microservices, no Kubernetes — boring technology chosen for its operational simplicity.
We worked in two-week cycles with a Wednesday demo every sprint. The founding team reviewed every PR before merge.
The outcome
- Production launch in 11 weeks from signed SOW
- Zero production incidents in the first 90 days
- Founding team hired their first full-time engineer within 60 days of launch — who was able to contribute to the codebase on their first day
"Unnamed delivered exactly what they scoped, on the date they said they would. I have never said that about an agency before."
